Ecology HW 2+3 Information

posted ‎‎Sep 13, 2009 3:22 PM‎‎ by Robert Kuhn

For the worksheet "suitable conditions" is specified by the overlapping of the different abiotic regions. The area where they all 3 overlap is the most suitable. High mortality rate can be ambiguous. I usually use 30% as my threshold.

Something is wrong with the webquest so just skip the part that is missing and do the rest.

Test Friday, September 11th

posted ‎‎Sep 2, 2009 6:32 AM‎‎ by Robert Kuhn   [ updated ‎‎Sep 2, 2009 6:50 AM‎‎ ]

Test will be on Unit 0 and Unit 1 (ecology) study guide #1. The items on ecology study guide #1 are as follows...

Students Should Know:

1.      The ecosystem can be divided into abiotic and biotic components

2.      A community’s interactions include competition, predator/prey interactions, and symbiosis

3.      There are limiting factors that affect population sizes

5. A niche is the sum of all the abiotic and biotic interactions involving an organism which determines its role in the community

Students Should Be Able To:

  1. Differentiate between organisms, populations, communities and ecosystems
  2. List abiotic and biotic factors within an ecosystem
  3. Predict the effect of limiting factors on the growth of a population
  4. Evaluate the effects of community interactions on different populations
  5. Recognize that no two organisms can occupy the same niche within an ecosystem
All book reading and homework content is fair game for the test.

Frodo is a copyrighted picture of some movie company somewhere and should not be vieweed by anyone so don't look. It is here courtesy of Jeremy who disliked the original baby picture I had to represent the human species.
