The Department of History Graduate Student Association at Florida International University works to foster interdisciplinary discourse through colloquia, lecture series, and an annual student conference. DOHGSA also encourages and supports History students as they attend conferences and work to publish their research.
Every History graduate student is a member of DOHGSA. DOHGSA acts as a representative body for their interests before the Department and the University. We provide an institutional venue for the professional development of graduate students with the goals of facilitating the publication of their work in the Atlantic Millennium, an annual journal edited and published by DOHGSA. The presentation of ongoing research at our annual workshop helps students practice their presentation skills, recieve feedback from colleagues and professors, and hone research ideas for presentation at national conferences. We foster scholarly interaction between professors and students by supporting lectures, colloquia, and other scholarly programs. DOHGSA also coordinates social activities that enrich the relationships within our department and in the greater graduate community.
