BMC School Application Process & Enrollment of New Students

Brashier Middle College Charter High School (BMC) is a public charter school that is authorized by Greenville County Schools. Admission to the school is open to all students who reside in Greenville County. There is no tuition charged since we are a public high school supported by state and local funding.

Our school typically enrolls approximately 100 new freshmen students each year. Openings in other grades are on an as available basis.  Returning students in good standing are guaranteed placement for the next grades. For the freshmen class, if there are more than 100 applicants after the initial open enrollment period has ended, a lottery will take place to determine which students will be admitted to incoming freshmen class.

Brashier Middle College Charter High School offers a unique learning experience for high school students. Our school provides a strong core academic program that is enhanced by extensive higher education opportunities. All students at BMCCHS have a personalized academic plan based upon their individual interests, talents and abilities. The school allows every student to pursue career pathways for a seamless transition to college or work while earning a high school diploma or college credit. Prospective Brashier Middle College Charter High School students and parents are invited to tour our new facility and discuss academic opportunities with teachers, students and administrators as well as for student shadowing opportunities.

Equal Education Opportunity: No student shall be denied equal opportunity for admission on the basis of race, sex, color, religion, handicap, marital status or national origin. Brashier Middle College Charter High School is open to all students in grades 9-12. Each student should complete a basic application form signed by the parent or guardian. Applications are accepted at the BMC main office on the Greenville Technical College Brashier campus or by mail. See below for specific application and mailing instructions.

Enrollment Lottery

As per state law, an enrollment lottery will be held whenever there are more applicants than available spaces. Brashier Middle College has 100 spaces for incoming Freshmen each year. Siblings of current BMC students are automatically accepted. The number of accepted siblings is deducted from the 100 spaces, to give us our final number of students we can accept.

The Enrollment Lottery will be held Thursday, February 11th, 2010 at 5:30pm in the front commons area inside the BMC building. All applicants will be assigned an applicant number. Using an online random number generator, we will scramble these numbers to determine placement. The results will be disclosed at the lottery and posted on the BMC website.
BMC will also notify parents the week of February 15th - 19th. Selected applicants will be required to complete an Enrollment Packet (teacher recommendations, grades, transcripts, etc.) for submission, after the lottery, on March 5th.

ENROLLMENT PACKET ~ Please complete these forms after the lottery:

Parents are expected to respond by March 19th if their child will be attending Brashier Middle College. Students will then be interviewed individually.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: If we turn in all our forms early, do we have better chances in the lottery?
A: No - the lottery is completely random. As long as you have all your forms in to BMC by February 5th, at 3:00pm, you are entered into the lottery. The open enrollment window is simply to give people enough time to apply.

Q: We can't make it to the lottery - do we have to be present to accept a space if we are selected?
A: No. All applicants who have turned in their forms by the deadline will be issued a lottery number. If your number is drawn and you are not present, we will notify you by whatever means you have specified. If your student is selected, you must submit your enrollment packet by March 5th and confirm acceptance by March 19th.

Q: Our student was selected in the lottery – what do we do now?
A: Congratulations! You will be contacted by a BMC staff member to arrange for a interview with you and your student. These interviews are TBA.

If you have more questions about the open enrollment process or the lottery, please contact Brashier Middle College at (864) 757-1800.
