Community Types

Eventbee provides three types of communities

Public Community, any one can join this community, visible across Eventbee

Moderated Community, joining this community requires manager's approval.

Paid Community, joining this community requires payment of membership fee


Which type of community is right for me?

  • If you are building community to promote your events to broader audience, we recommend you to build Public Community.
  • If you are building niche community and restrict who to join etc. build Moderated Community
  • If you already have association, club or special interest group with paid memberships, we recommend you to use Paid Community features to streamline your operations

Default community

By default we create Public Community for every user. Anyone can visit your public community by visiting http://<beeid>.eventbee.com/community

You can perform all community management operations to manage your default community.


Creating new Community

You can create multiple communities, to create new community

Go to My More Communities Create Community (button)


Community Management

Every community has exclusive Community Manage page, to reach this page, click on My Communities <community name> Manage (link)


Changing Community type

  • Go to Community Manage Information Edit (button)
  • Select desired Type and click on Submit (button)


Active & Passive Members

You can have two types of members in your community.

  • Active Members: These members have full access to your community, including forum posting, event listing etc. Eventbee membership is required to join as Active member

  • Passive Members: These members do not have access to your community forums etc. but they receive all your forum emails and other communication. Evnetbee membership is not required to join as Passive member.

Adding Members

  • Add members by clicking Community Manage Manage Members Add Members (button)
  • Enter Email Ids or the members you would like to add
  • We will send out email invitation to join your community

Member can join your community as Active member by becoming Eventbee member or just stay as Passive member by not joining Eventbee


Inviting Friends

You can invite your friends and friends of friends on Eventbee to your community by clicking Community Manage Manage Members Invite Friends (button)


Managing Members

Click on Community Manage Manage Members Manage Members (button)


Messaging Members

To send message to members, click on Community Manage Manage Members → Send Message (button)


Default Forum

By default each community comes up with default forum, you can also create as many forums as you want.


Creating Forum

Click on Community Manage Discussion Forums Add Forum (button)


Email posting to Forums

You can set unique email ID to each forum, and enable email posting to forum. Choose email ID during the forum creation or visiting Community Manage <forum name> Settings (link) -> Discussion Forums


Changing Forum status

By default Forum status is set to Active, you can change forum status to different state by visiting Community Manage Discussion Forums <forum name> Settings (link)

Active: Forum is visible to community, members can post and reply topics

Deactivate: Forum is not visible in community

Suspend: Forum is visible but members are not allowed to post anything


Deleting Forum messages

  • Go to Community Manage Discussion Forums <forum name> (link)
  • Select messages to delete, and click on Delete button


Community look and feel

Eventbee offers you complete control of your event page. You can customize and brand your event page as you want based on your technical skills.


Simple Customizations (anyone can do these):


Community Description

Go to Community Manage → Configure → Description/Content <content> (link)

Adding Headers and Footers

Go to Community Manage → Configure → Looks and Feel Header/Footer Settings (link)

Changing Eventbee Themes

By default we set ebee-default as your community theme. You can change default theme to your desired other pre-defined themes by clicking Community Manage → Configure Look and Feel → Theme (link)

Using your own Themes

You can create your own themes by visiting My Themes → My Community Page Themes

Creating your own theme is as simple as selecting colors and various look and feel options with few clicks.

You can set to your custom themes by clicking on Community Manage → Configure Look and Feel → Themes → My Themes (select your theme from pull down list)


Customizing with your own CSS/HTML

We give you complete control of your community page CSS and HTML, you can edit your CSS and HTML to get maximum customization possible. To edit your HTML/CSS page go to Community Manage → Configure Look and Feel → Theme Templates → HTML or CSS (link)

NOTE: If you change your event page look and feel by using any other method, you will lose all your edits to your HTML/CSS templates


Creating Paid Memberships

In the community settings make sure your community type is set to Paid.

  • You can create paid memberships by clicking Community Manage Membership Types Create Membership Type (button)
  • Enter Membership Information, enter your Initial Fee, Term Fee and Term duration and click Submit

Note, member will be charged Initial Fee + Term Fee first time he joins your community, subsequently you can request him to pay Term Fee to renewal his membership.


Creating Custom Sign Up form for Paid Memberships

You can create custom sign up form to collect information from member who joins your community. To create custom form go to Community Manage Membership Types Membership Sign Up Form (link)


Integrating with your website

Every community has unique Eventbee URL, you can copy and paste URL wherever you would like. You can find your community URL in Community Manage URL Information

Forum Streamer

Copy and paste Forum Streamer javascript code to anywhere on your website where you would like to display forum postings.
