Proclaim the Gospel Chair - Responsibilities

The following is from an email I sent to our proclaim the gospel committee chair shortly after he was called:
  1. Attend Periodic Correlation Meetings - I'm not sure how often the ward mission leader plans to hold these.  But it's usually right after church for 20-30 minutes.  You'll represent the EQ and take on assignments as necessary.  Depending on the nature of the assignment, you may escalate it to me, or carry it our yourself.
  2. Organize Missionary Splits - You'll need to ask the ward mission leader about this.  He mentioned a few weeks ago that he wants to start organizing splits for the missionaries.  This is when two members go out with the missionaries in the evening so they can split up and double their efforts.  From an organizational perspective, this could involve passing around a sign-up sheet in EQ meeting on Sundays and possibly sending our reminders, making phone calls, etc as necessary.
  3. Track Progress of New Members - We don't really have any new members right now.  But when we do, you'll be responsible for helping keep tabs on them.  We want to make sure all new members have a calling, friends in the ward, and opportunities to learn the gospel.  We may also get you involved in helping reactivate less-active families.
  4. Monthly Challenge - We want to bring up missionary work in the EQ meeting monthly.  This could be a challenge (e.g. hand out a book of mormon, pass-along card, etc and report back next month) or it could be asking someone to share a missionary experience, or it could be you sharing a short spiritual thought on missionary work (or asking someone else to).  We used to do this on the 1st Sunday of each month.
  5. Announcements - You'll be responsible for making any missionary-related announcements in EQ meeting on Sundays.  These announcements will usually be passed to you by myself or the ward mission leader.
  6. Teach a Missionary Lesson Periodically - probably 1x/year.
