Home Teaching Reporting - ReturnAndReport.org

In late 2006, as the 2nd Counselor in our Elders Quorum, I began work on a Home/Visiting Teaching application. I continued to work on the application throughout 2007 and 2008, hoping that the Church might be interested in it and adopt it. Unfortunately, I later learned that the Church does not have the resources to persue such an application at this time.

Therefore, I modified my application to adhere to Church policy and I am financing it and operating it myself. It is now open for anyone to sign up and use. Hopefully one day, the Church will have the time to take a serious look at this application and maybe integrate it with LUWS.

Feedback regarding this application has been overwhemlingly positive and I have personally seen it significantly improve Home Teaching without changing the doctrine in any way.

There are numerous advantages that can be realized from using this system for Home or Visiting Teaching. Some of the highlights are summarized below:

1. Presidency Members know exactly what is going on with Home Teaching at any time during the month:

2. Presidency Members know exactly who has or has not been taught for the month:

3. Presidency Members know who has not been taught for a long period of time so appropriate action can be taken:

4. Teachers are reminded one, two, or three times per month by Email regarding their Home Teaching. This message can be personalized by the Presidency:

5. Teachers know exactly what their assignments are and now have a new channel of communication with the Presidency. Teachers are more likely to be thinking about the needs of their families and comment accordingly while they are reporting their teaching online:

6. Presidency Members can collaborate and gather results far more efficiently and effectively.

7. Stake Presidents, Bishops, or other appropriate leaders know exactly how Home/Visiting Teaching is progressing throughout the month.

From the past year and a half of testing, I have witnessed the great potential of this tool. The tool is available for free to anyone who wishes to use it. The tool is very easy to set up and is relatively self sufficient after the initial work required to configure it.
