As a result of energy efficient building design and passive home technology, heating and cooling demands can be drastically reduced. Base upon this significant achievement, new and more radical solutions for energy supply stratigies have become more feasible than before, both economically and technically. The passive house technology is therefore an importtant pre-condition for the next step. It can be seen as an enabling technology for further innovations towards the " Wireless House".
Dr Robert Wimmer, Centre for Appropriate Technology (GrAT), Vienna University of Technology, presented the attached paper on the self-sufficient 'Wireless House' at World Sustainable Building Conference, Melbourne, Sept 2008. This attracted considerable interest, and follows his previous work on the innovative Factor 10 'S-House' (also attached). Other papers from Dr Wimmer can be found on this website.
