"DOUBLE" GETS CINEMATOGRAPHY RECOGNITION AT HD FEST LOS ANGELES

Kudos to "Double" director of photography Alex Nikishin and his camera crew, as "Double" snagged Runner-Up for Best Cinematography - Short Film this weekend at the HD Fest Los Angeles.  The competition was fierce, as we were up against some gorgeous films with much higher budgets and higher-end cameras.  So the award is quite an accomplishment and we're very thankful for the recognition.

FALL FESTIVALS IN THE HEARTLAND AND THE U.K.

"Double" continues to expand its presence on festival screens this October and November!  Just recently, the short thriller was accepted to the respected Filmstock International Film Festival in Luton, England (home town of "double" producer Martin Kittappa), as well as the niche Thriller Chiller Film Festival in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  Check out the festival links above for more details.

Additionally, it now appears that "double" will be in the December 2008 program of the HD Fest in Los Angeles (details forthcoming) and the NewFilmmakers NY screening has been moved to Thanksgiving week, November 26th.

MORE FESTIVALS! - UPDATED

Reverb Cinema is pleased to announce that "double" has been selected to screen at this year's HD FEST Los Angeles, as well as a prestigious spot at the NewFilmmakers NY program for Fall 2008.

Now in its 9th year, the HD Fest will soon announce its December schedule and awards nominations -- stay tuned for further updates!

The longest-running and most-attended screening series in New York City, NewFilmmakers will showcase "double" just before the feature presentation on its Thanksgiving Week program, November 26th program this year.

R.I.P., BRIAN FREDRICKSON

I am deeply saddened to report the news that Brian Fredrickson, the brilliant sound designer of "double," has passed away.  Brian was unexpectedly diagnosed in May with pancreatic cancer and had only about 3 weeks after that to finish his days in this world.  The following was reported on Brian's website:

Brian crossed over this morning at 5:40 a.m. Kim was able to talk to him as the sun rose. It was peaceful. Brian's best friend Galen was present.

I thank God that I got to know Brian for the too-brief time I did; it is an honor that "double" was the last film blessed by his prodigious talents and creativity.  Brian struck me as an original, a true artist, a kind man, full of mischievous life.  Our sincerest condolences and prayers for comfort go out to his love, Kim, as well as his children, family and friends.

CANNES   

Plan on being at the Cannes Film Festival in May?  Know someone who is?  Let it be known that "double" can be seen on the viewing stations at the Short Film Corner marketplace at Cannes this year.  How cool is that?

FESTIVALS STATUS

After a very successful cast & crew screening, several people have asked about further screenings of "double." The scoop is that we are now submitted to 15 festivals (and counting) and expect to start hearing about where the film has been selected within the next month, especially in mid-May, when many of the Big Ones announce.  We'll be sure to let you know ASAP if you're on the e-newsletter list (look to the left to see how to join)!

DONE!!!!   (March 12, 2008)

Thank God, we made it! -- "double" is now officially completed!  We have a color-corrected, Hi-Def print master with a Dolby 5.1 soundtrack.  Also, we've already begun the process of submitting to film festivals (globally, natch).  Thanks for your support!  Please return here for announcements of upcoming screenings as the film is unleashed...
