This year's award will be in the amount of $500.  Essays must be submitted by May 20, 2008.


The Callie A. Parker bookstore award is a payment made directly to the bookstore of the recipient’s chosen school. The award will be paid by the family of Callie A. Parker to the bookstore and will provide money to be applied towards books anytime after the first semester the recipient attends.  This award will be provided annually.

Award winners will be chosen on the following criteria:
  1. The student must have demonstrated a love for learning in their formative years. This will include elementary and high school.
  2. The student must have demonstrated a genuine sense of caring and willingness to help others during their time in elementary and high school.
  3. Student applying for this award must write an essay of at least 250 words and not more then 500 words describing what they have done to demonstrate the two criteria listed above and explaining why they should be selected for this award.

All applicants essays will be evaluated by the family of Callie A. Parker and should they need help in determining a recipient, will consult with the high school staff.
The selected recipient will be notified prior to or at graduation that they have been selected for this award.
