- The learner will know when reading breaks down and learn to use a flexible range of reading strategies.
This full year, forty minute course is required for freshman entering DISHS who need support in basic reading skills. Placement in this course will be determined by reading scores. Comprehension strategies will be taught and practiced to help students be successful in their other classes. Students will read several books, including free choice selections each semester. There will be individualized instruction in reading comprehension and activities to develop vocabulary. Pre and post test data will measure progress.
