Pre-Kindergarten

Welcome to the DIS Pre-Kindergarten Webpage!!!

The Pre-Kindergarten classroom at Dayton Islamic School is a self-contained room with a Montessori-based curriculum. Most of each day is spent with the children working on self-directed learning explorations, either individually or in partnerships. Each day, the students receive two short lessons from the teacher (generally about 10 minutes each), one in Language Arts and one in Mathematics. Once a week, the students participate in an Art activity related to the current instructional content for the given week. In addition, twice a week the students play songs as a class, using and sharing musical instruments. The resources of our school also provide special content for the students as they grow into devout Muslims. Every day, the students practice their Qu’ran passages and Arabic vocabulary with their Arabic teacher, Sr. Eaman.

Note From Miss T.
Parents,
I hope to work closely with you all during the course of the school year to ensure that the students achieve as many goals as possible. I will keep in contact with you on a regular basis, and I hope that you will do the same with me. My email address is Rebecca@dis4u.org.

Reminders

Please continue to adhere to our school's set drop-off and pick-up times.  I thank you all, because I have seen much improvement with this recently!!!

DIS is now serving hot lunches.  If you want your child to eat hot lunches, please refer to the yellow sheet for prices.

Every two weeks, your child will bring home his or her blanket.  Please wash it and return to school the following Monday.  I have noticed that a lot of students are borrowing my blankets and pillows because they do not have their own.  Please make sure that your child's belongings come back to school so they can be comfortable at school.

Also, many of the students are coming to school without their folders.  Please make sure that your child brings his or her folder to school EVERY day.  Thank you!!
