Background/Artist's Statement

The main subject of my art as you can tell is the horse. But I also hope to depict the simple, easy going ways of country life, as well as express my thoughts and feelings about what is important in this life. Eventually I hope to do more religious themes but as I am only an amateur, I am intimidated by Holy subject matter. Someday I want to bless others with my views of the Savior and His life but for right now I need to learn how to depict His creations before I can attempt to 'create' Him.

About Me

Let's see...a little about me. I am a tomboy/country girl that loves camping, cinnamon rolls, volleyball, softball, gymkhanas, classic comedy movies, instrumental music, peas, decorating, playing my flute, floral design, any critter that crosses my path, and my family.

My husband and I have a new little boy named Aaron and he is our pride and joy. He keeps us on our toes and I definitely don't have as much time for art as I used to, but I've never been so inspired as when I became a mom. You can see him on the pencil page in the drawing titled 'New'. We also have a dog named Ansel (after Ansel Adams... but it's a 'she' and yes, she is Black and White). We have a few chickens, and two African sulcata tortoises named Louie (used to be Lucy until a certain discovery was made) and Koopa (90's Nintendo inspiration).

And the three horses featured in my art a lot are Shevy, Junior and Hadem. Shevy is the bay quarter horse with the left front sock, and a blaze. He's quite the character as you'll see on my Just for Fun page. Junior is the black and white tobiano that is the boss of my family's little group. He is near and dear to my heart as I can't recall a day in my life that we didn't have that horse. His name is Junior because we couldn't come up with a name fitting for him, and we started calling him Junior...and well... it stuck, even though we came up with the name 'My Sweet Tooth' as he's out of My Sweet Sir. He's our miracle horse; we almost lost him to colic, and the vet was shocked he lived... but Faith and Prayers work! And Hadem is our little Arabian that was abandoned with us by a boarder that mistreated and starved him and his mother and sister before dropping them off. The two mares died but we were able to save Hadem. He was only a yearling then, and we legally got ownership and trained him ourselves and he has just been the funnest horse to have! He came with his name although he is called Hoodlum as well. Him and Shevy are just plain ol' rascals.

In October 2007 we added another horse to our herd. 'Katrina' is a seal brown little five year old mare we bought for Tyler's birthday. I thought he'd rename her 'Jedi' or something along Star-Wars-lines because he's obsessed with it, but his friend has a horse named Katrina that Tyler rode and he thought it was funny he got his own Katrina. Katrina has one problem though; her pelvis was broken when she was a baby and it wasn't corrected by her owner so her hips are lopsided. But that doesn't stop her from being the spaz she is. She's buddied up with Hadem and the two are inseparable. She's very smart and we have to make sure her gate has a lock on it because she knows how to flip the latch! Once we went out to feed the horses and she was standing in her corral, gate open, acting all innocent, when hay was scattered all over the place. She's a real character and I'm so excited for Tyler.
