Dear Sisters and Brothers from Deep Change, I have been holding you all in my heart since our gathering and write to share a bit of joy, even as we live in a time of incredible challenge and suffering in our communities. During the midnight hours of Monday night/Tuesday morning we had a beautiful moment occur here on the ranch in Montana. One of our mares gave birth to her foal – a filly (a female) just before a spring rain shower hit. There is something so beautiful and mysterious about large animals giving birth – particularly horses. They are more prone to complications, partially because they have been so highly domesticated due to centuries of human influence. However, they still manage to create new life even after an ELEVEN month gestation (I wouldn’t want that part for humans J). As we are in this time of amazing progress and possibility in our work, fast paced/rapid response culture, concern for our communities, and maybe even some fatigue, I wanted to share a bit of my world as a bit of Vitamin Joy – and how it symbolizes another dimension of hope and mystery. Yes, we can and need joy in our lives, for if we don’t how are we to manifest joy in a transformed world we strive to create. As soon as the mare and her foal are back out on pasture I’ll send along a picture of the setting in which they live – the green of the foothill pastures, wildflowers in bloom, and the snow-capped mountains. Be well All. With gratitude to each of you for your important leadership, Pamela |
