WELCOME!

WELCOME! WELCOME!WELCOME!WELCOME!
Wow!  The summer went by so quickly, I hope you are well rested and ready for an interesting, stimulating, and challenging year in sixth grade!   As we embark on our journey through sixth grade, there are three key things that you can do to ensure that you are successful this year.

• Initially, you should become familiar with this website. This will be an important communication tool this year.  I have News, Tips for Success, Classroom Behavior Norms, Homework assignments, a link to the Parent Connect Website, a Calendar, and ‘cool’ Links page.  At times, I will post material for classroom assignments.

• Second, you can help by making sure your student is prepared and ready for school!  There is a list of supplies on the ‘TIPS for SUCCESS’ page along with some important information on Homework Policy, Supplies, Grading, Teacher Support, and an article on “Getting to Know Your Early Adolescent.”

• Finally, remember that middle school children still need the guidance and support that they have been receiving at home during the elementary school years. More importantly, since every 6th grader is starting the year at a new School, your child may be distracted by the new  surroundings and new friendships, and so he/she may need you to be even more involved than you were last year.

Overall, it is going to be a fun and exciting year and I can’t wait to get to know you and your student!
