Sponsored Projects introduce new members to the iCollaboratory by encouraging participation in an engaging collaborative project, alongside experienced iCollaboratory users. The projects demonstrate the communication and collaboration tools available in the iCollaboratory and involve different grade levels, subject areas and communities. All K12 classrooms are invited to join with their teacher/leader.

As you participate, please remember that published content needs to be appropriate for the age ages 4-18 years. Appropriate online behavior is also important!

Sponsored Projects 2008-09

The Scariest Stories - October
Students create and share their scariest stories, illustrations and sound effects. Each classroom submits a link to a local legend or a scary place in their community. They also take The Scariest Survey to learn more about the other participating students and what scares them the most.

What I am Most Thankful For - November
Students share a description of what they are most thankful for and why. They can include video, audio images and/or text.

Poetry Month - April
For National Poetry Month, students share and discuss poems they have written and illustrated (optional) in a Poetry Month Nexus community.

Day in Our Neighborhood - May
Students from around the country take pictures and record audio (optional) about their school and community. They share Internet links about their community and take a survey to learn more about each other. Data and photos are shared in an online interactive map of Illinois.

Teachers, library media specialists, technology coordinators and other educators are welcome to build a project for their students and share it with others.
