Snowball 2009

From our President (February 8, 2009)

On behalf of the Executive Board, I would like to thank everyone on the Council for their hard work and dedication towards Snowball 2009! The occasion was a true success due to the collective effort of the group and to the more than 1,200 guests who attended this year.  We celebrated another successful evening, and we were very proud to present a check for $110,000 to the Pediatric and Adolescent HIV/AIDS Section at Children's Memorial for the second year in a row!

Our high-tech, interactive silent auction was one of many new features introduced this year.  We also welcomed VIP guests and corporate and in-kind sponsors to our upper balcony private seating area for the first time - just the beginning of the partnerships we are enjoying on behalf of CMH's patients and families.

Dr. Ram Yogev, founder of the Section, took time out to come join us at midnight and accept our 'big' check and share thanks with our guests.  We raise money and awareness all year long in order to support Dr. Yogev and the important work that he does, and seeing him in person is always a special occasion.

Thank you council members for your contributions all year, for soliciting auction items, ads, restaurants, stuffing VIP goody bags, helping with decorations and simply spreading the word and attending the Snowball. Your efforts made Snowball 2009 a resounding success! Thank you to our friends and guests for filling Navy Pier's Grand Ballroom with such a great crowd.  Stay tuned for exciting Junior Council plans in 2009, and we'll see you at Snowball 2010 before we know it!

Ginny Berg, President

Other Events

The Junior Council hosts a variety of events in Chicago throughout the year. Activities to date have included rooftop parties for Cubs games and concerts, a summer luau, a weekend afternoon at Arlington Race Track, an annual patient holiday party, a boat cruise on Lake Michigan, miniature golf tournaments and casual weeknight social gatherings. We also, of course, look forward all year to our annual winter Black-tie gala, Snowball. Each event raises awareness of our fundraising cause and builds enthusiasm for the work we do as a group of young professionals.
Our primary fundraising event is the annual Snowball Gala, which is typically attended by over 1,000 young professionals.
