Lech Majewski to Direct "Opera 'Double Bill'" at Bard College

March 12, 2008

This summer, celebrated director and artist Lech Majewski will direct and design an “opera double bill” at Bard College, in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York. The two operas, both by Karol Szymanowski (1882-1937), are Harnasie and King Roger (The Shepherd).

Lech Majewski, honored in 2006 as the youngest filmmaker ever to receive a complete retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art, is the director of films including The Gospel According to Harry (1994), The Roe’s Room (1997), The Garden of Earthly Delights (2004), and Glass Lips (2007). Kino and International Film Circuit will release those four titles on DVD in August 2008.

Bard College’s announcement of the opera staging - to take place in July and August 2008 - is here.
