Vaccinations

The Center for Disease Control's (CDC) website outlines the health information for traveling to Zambia. They also provide a handout on malaria, A Guide for Travelers to Malaria-Risk Areas.

When your doctor complete your health forms, ask them which vaccinations they recommend. Your doctor will provide you with a "yellow card" to records your vaccinations. You should keep your yellow card with your passport! Also, please have your doctor indicate which anti-malarial drug he or she has prescribed for you.

According to the Capitol Travel Website in Arlington, VA:
"How far ahead of my trip should I receive travel vaccines?

Ideally, travel vaccines should be given at least two to four weeks before an individual travels. This delay allows the immune system enough time to produce protective antibody levels against the disease. Some vaccines are given in a series and should be started four to five weeks before travel. It is never too late to protect yourself!"
