This summer I will be traveling to Zambia with the LearnServe Zambia program. This is the third year LearnServe International has traveled to Zambia and we are fortunate to participate in this experience. We will be traveling with 25 adults and students, representing ten public, private and charter schools across DC. Our focus in Zambia will be on HIV/AIDS, vulnerable and orphaned children due to HIV/AIDS, education and access to clean water. While in Zambia, we will be volunteering with four organizations: Chikumbuso Community Center, World Bicycle Relief, David Kaunda National Technical School and Malambo Basic Schools. All of these organizations have a unique means in which they have responded to the HIV/AIDS crisis in Zambia. We will learn from their work and, in turn, inform our communities about what we have learned upon our return. The "wish list" below contains items that we wish to bring with us and leave in Zambia. Each of us is allowed to bring two 50 lb bags. We need your help in filling our bags! Some of the items were requested by the organizations we will be working with; other items will help us implement our lesson plans and activities. To make donating easier, I have organized a “wish list” on amazon.com. All you need to do is place an order online and the items will be shipped! Material items may also be dropped off at __________. We are also asking for financial donations. Some monies will be used to purchase materials when we arrive in Zambia and other monies will be donated directly to the projects. Our goal is to raise ___________. Checks can be made out to LearnServe International. Please write “Zambia” on the memo line. Individuals who make check donations will receive a letter of acknowledgment for your tax-deductible gift. Thank you in advance for supporting the LearnServe Zambia Project. Projects
