Loans Code of Conduct

Code of conduct

By hitting the submit button on the UWE loans equipment booking form, you have agreed to abide by these terms and conditions of use. All bookings are subject to these terms and failure to comply with them will result in your right to borrow equipment hindered or withdrawn.

Loan Period
The standard loan period is until the first session of the next working day. If you wish to keep equipment for a longer period, a return time and date must be agreed with MLS staff.

Returns
All equipment must be returned to the loans office (MB110). Unless you have agreed an alternative location, which will be recorded on your loans form, any equipment must be returned to the issuing office.

You are responsible for borrowed equipment
When you borrow equipment from the university, you are responsible for it until it is returned, and must pay for any loss or damage. Failure to return equipment in good condition will incur a debt to the university, and non-payment of this debt may lead to penalties such as the withholding of examination and dissertation results.
UWE's insurance doesn't cover loaned equipment, so you are responsible for arranging appropriate insurance for borrowed kit. You will be liable for up to the total value of any lost or damaged equipment.

Take care of borrowed equipment
  • Do not leave equipment unattended at any time.
  • Make every effort to ensure equipment is secure and free from damage.
  • Do not put yourself or equipment in a place where there is risk of injury, damage or loss.
  • The equipment is available for staff and students in connection with official university work.
  • Equipment must not be kept for personal use or loaned to a third-party - including other students.
  • You must not use equipment in ways or in areas for which it is not indended.
Keys
You have sole responsibility for any keys in your charge. When you leave a work area, keys must be returned to a member of MLS staff, and should not be passed to anyone else.

Booking confirmation
It is your responsibility to seek confimation that booking requests have been accepted. We will endevour to honour all bookings, but this is subject to availability due to faults or late returns by others.

Risk Assessment
You must complete a risk assessment form before any equipment will be issued
