I just finished teaching an Introduction class to Meditation & Mysticism and was moved again and again by how MUCH people desire to know God and be loved by God. How can anyone know which direction to turn if they don’t know the very core of their beings? It’s so hard out there, isn’t it? With every turn being an unknown, no wonder people are in so much pain. We have blessings at our classes – real blessings that move real energy that bring real change. It’s not fancy, it’s God and it is so real that it penetrates beyond the walls of ideas and moves into the cavern of truth. It’s phenomenal and it is motivated by love. I want to bless everyone – I wish people wanted that. A few months ago I was walking through Berkeley with Father Peter and a man asked him for a blessing. He stopped and gave it to him. I wish people would ask for blessings all the time so they could be helped and find some peace. One time in Boston I was at the DMV waiting in line, as you often do there. And a man approached me and said he’d woken up in the morning and told his mother that if he ran into a priest that day, he was going to confess a big burden he’d been carrying on his heart and then there he was, renewing his license and a priest ‘happened’ to be there. He shared his story and unburdened his heart and walked away lighter that day. I don’t know what he did with it, but I do know that for that moment, he got peace. He got it and he was healed of that burden; by committing to give it up, God gave him a means to do so. Take the step, have the desire, make the move and God will rush in and bring you aid. I will leave you with one o f Goethe’s couplets: “Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. boldness has genius, power and magic in it.” May you be blessed this night ~ Reverend Rachel. |
