Dear Friends,
There is a lot of fresh new action happening over here in the Chicago Center of Light.  We have a bunch of new novices who just moved in and 2 more coming.  Each student commits with love to their deep devotional practice, integrity in relationships and everyday responsibilities... here are some pictures of the novice life.

LATE POST for FEBRUARY

I had my 7 year priest birthday yesterday and I thought to myself  "wow.  that is a whole cycle."  What have I done? how have I served? did it help anyone? What can I do better? How can I deepen in devotion and service to God, Jesus and Mary?  How can I give over more for God's love to deepen and flow through me to others? This is what I ask for on this birthday.  It is a birthday. A birth of being a son/daughter of God instead of to the world.  That day was one of the happiest days of my life.  I feel so blessed to get to serve and give to my fellow brothers and sisters with whom I share this planet.  I pray for all people to get in touch with the calling that is however strong or subtle inside and follow it until you are satisfied.  God wants so much to come into relationship with us that he gave everything for this to happen.  Would you give your son or daughter up in sacrifice so other people may be healed? Well, God did. Let us never forget this Gift.
Praises be to God.

Dear Friends,
Hello,
Have you ever thought of yourself as a person with a light right inside your middle?  Well that is what you are.  God placed God's Self right there in your center.  Light is a natural resource as they say.  Your natural resource or 'source' to become your 'natural' Self is located right in your center.  Thus the name, Center of Light.  There is not a lot of instruction around how to get in touch with this, most meditation schools teach you how to relax, how to be kind and peaceful, we teach you how to be what Jesus called us to be, "Centers of LIGHT".  He said, " You are the light of the world." He really meant this.  He still means it.  He will fill you with light everytime you approach him. This is for real! He is a live, real, being of Light and what come with knowing Him is a huge amount of Love too.  He said for us to share the light with our neighbors.  He did not say, cover your foes with a cloud of angst.  He said love, we say Love, you say love... That is the way to do it.  Through Light and Love we will shine and bring down the clouds of fear, confusion, selfishness and doubt.  This morning, everyone commented on how cloudy it was, then they wondered where the sun went.  It didnt go anywhere, it was still there but we couldnt see it.  Thus it is with you.  Just because you dont see it yet,  doesnt mean it is not there.  It is there.  let the ones who do see it, hold that truth for you until you see the Light for yourself.  Then you will be a true believer because you will know for yourself.
Remember... YOU ARE the LIGHT of the world.

Peace be with you.

Starting fresh

I have been here for 17 days now. I am looking at the time and noticing that its past 7:30pm on Thursday night, the routine of going to Tree of Life class is not the same here in our new center in Chicago. It is small, so small there is one person for sunday service. I told them in the sermon, that if the two people who come here could make a plan to come together on the same day we would look a little fuller:). There will be a day when our numbers will multiply and many will come to know the joys of community here at the Center of Light in Chicago.

Until then we pray and teach and do our lives same as usual. I am so grateful that God brought us here and we get to meet and know new people and where their souls have been. No matter what town or city peoplelive in, they are the same. We have been around with our livetimes of stories and all our experiences that makes us who we are. And on the inside we all have the Light of God in us and I look foward to seeing those lights get bigger and brighter and shine in the truth and in the purity of God's blessings of love. I cant wait to meet the people who will be drawn here. Are you one of those?

Consciousness and Vibrations

posted ‎‎Jan 15, 2009 1:01 PM‎‎ by Rev Gabrielle   [ updated ‎‎Jan 15, 2009 4:16 PM‎‎ ]

Sitting in a coffee shop right now.  Listening to the music.  A women's soft voice is singing a blues tune.

I noticed the energy in the room slow down and get quiet. Stillness happened.

It is amazing how music affects the mood of people in a room.

It's vibration, some vibes are slow, some fast, some uplifting some pull us down.  So it is with our own vibrations.

Sound is vibration: words and music are vibrations.  Thoughts and feelings also emit vibrations.
Our bodies are like a radio and our minds the radio waves that flow through it. We can adjust how loud and disturbing we want our vibes to be to our environment.  Or how much peace and calm we want to put out.

We have this mechanism inside us that allows us to choose and create.  Some of us call that consciousness and some God and some don't call it anything at all.

What if our vibrations were all in tune with each other, and we were all in tune with the most eloquent music there is, the vibrations of peace and love and joy, wouldn't we create some beautiful music?

Check these vibes out...

Tired of the Same Old Christmas?

posted ‎‎Nov 23, 2008 7:22 PM‎‎ by Deacon Miriam

I was downtown tonight watching the parade and lighting of the Christmas lights along Michigan Avenue. People felt happy and festive as they ready for the upcoming holiday. I started to wonder how long that would last before they were busy with shopping, hectic schedules, and family dynamics. As I joyfully prepare for this season, I can reflect on the change that is happened in my life as I have learned to connect inside to myself and to God. The holiday has become a time to deepen and clear out old patterns that no longer work. It is a time to prepare for the birth of the light inside of us, which will help us to feel more peace in our daily lives. Are you ready for a deep and meaningful Christmas Season? Do you want to know where to start? Read Mother Clare’s article on How to Have a Meaningful Christmas by clicking here.

Why Are We Afraid & The Path to Fearlessness
Sunday, November 16 • 7:30 p.m.
Suggested Donation: $25

In a world of self confidence, clarity, and peacefulness how does fear creep in so easily? It is the seed of anger, confusion, and war. Fear creatively gets us to think we are helpless, alone, isolated, and cut off. But when the truth comes in you know differently; come to this seminar and learn to fearlessly walk the way of freedom from all that has held you from becoming your self.

Love, Sex, and God
Monday, November 17 • 7:30 p.m.
Suggested Donation: $25

Love, Sex AND God? Three words not typically seen in the same sentence; but God created all three. How, then, does one relate to the other? And how do we get them to make sense in our mixed up world where confusion and romanticism reign? If you are single and looking for a partner, presently in a relationship, starting a new partnership, struggling with the relationship you have, or grieving the loss of a relationship, this seminar is for you. Mother Clare Watts will guide you into the mysteries of relationships, energetically and practically, so that you will emerge with a clear understanding of what you have experienced in the past and how to be an active creator in the kind of relationship that will open your heart, mend your hurts, and relieve your fears. Don't miss it!

Spiritual Community

posted ‎‎Oct 22, 2008 1:45 PM‎‎ by Deacon Miriam

I was having a conversation with a woman on the plane as I came home from retreat, and she was longing for spiritual community. It made me reflect on how many people, who are looking to grow and to heal, are not able to find a body to grow with. This is sad to me because spiritual community is a huge part of the growth into God. As a group we can meditate together, talk about real things, and serve in our communities together. We can also share deeper parts of ourselves across from others who are committed to the same sharing. When you are in community with The Centers of Light, you will also benefit from having a Teacher around to mediate when communication gets hard. In my own growth, I have deepened exponentially from the times that I have shared my experience and was received with compassion and love by my brothers and sisters. I have felt God's Love more deeply and joyfully in the process. I also have to say that we have a lot of fun together as well; there is a lot of laughter and joy that happens as we spend time together.  So, come join us as we grow into God's Love within a true Spiritual Family.

The Giant Apartment

posted ‎‎Sep 19, 2008 3:05 PM‎‎ by Deacon Miriam

We at the Center of Light Chicago are still in transition and we are feeling Gods presence through all of it! My children and I have been staying at a Motel for the past month during the week, so that they can go to school. This has been a tight squeeze and has given us time to work on our patience with each other and the new situation. The children have been great and it reminds me how we should be more like them. They just wake up take the day ahead, by looking at what is in front of them in that moment. Each place we go to is new and therefore exciting to be in. We were blessed to move into a 2 bedroom apartment with Deacon Samuel yesterday. To understand this adventure better, we have lived in a very large house to move into a bungalow last year, so we are slowly getting smaller and smaller! But the joy of how God works is that our tight squeeze in the motel makes us feel like we have a palace in this apartment. Many windows, doors to get some privacy, and the best part…..a kitchen!!!! It is easy to feel this gratitude as many around us have lost homes to the flooding that has happened here and through the latest hurricanes. It is a choice to feel gratitude or a choice to feel angry….only one will bring you closer to peace.

Camping in the Light

posted ‎‎Sep 4, 2008 3:53 PM‎‎ by Deacon Miriam   [ updated ‎‎Sep 4, 2008 3:59 PM‎‎ ]

We just got back from a camping trip that included our Milwaukee and Lansing Centers! To be honest, camping had not been on my agenda for the top things that I wanted to do in my weekend, but that all changes when you have Light and consciousness added. We had about 30 people working together to make for a fun filled weekend. We swam in Lake Michigan, climbed some sand dunes, played games, and the kids made gigantic bubbles. We also had the chance to break in our new tent chapel that holds 14 people. Rev. Carin picked it up on the way down and it even had a small place that was perfect for an alter.  The camp site was jammed packed with people and we were all side by side, so it was very joyful to sing and have a sermon on the site to spread Gods love. The trip deepened my love for my brothers and sisters and was yet another reminder of how wonderful it is to be in community. Having Centers in so many states allow us to travel to almost any state and feel at home. So as for the bugs, the dirt, and the hard ground…..when you are feeling so much peace, you don’t really think about the rest.
