Originally
developed in the 1940s by neurologist Andras Peto in Budapest, Hungary,
conductive education is now practiced worldwide. The Steps To Independence programs are taught by experienced conductors
trained at the Peto Institute. Conductors are educators who engage the children at their specific cognitive level and make extensive use of basic techniques of physical therapy including hands-on facilitation of the children.
