Course Content

Congratulations on selecting a course that focuses primarily on Crowley County High School, Crowley County community and you as a student leader.  The two main parts to the course, exploring your own leadership potential and helping organize school activities, is a huge commitment on your part.  It will take a great deal of work both in class and after school.  Hopefully, you will find that the countless hours and projects that you help bring to completion are worth it in the end.  Thank you for making such a huge sacrifice for your school.  Remember, you will get out of this class what you put into it.

Main Course Objectives/Standards

  1. The student will demonstrate and understanding of the basic concepts of leadership, its roles, responsibilities, hazards, dedication, and its relationship to the total school.
  2. The student will demonstrate an understanding and ability in goal setting and evaluation, and how to apply them when planning school activities.
  3. The student will demonstrate ability in use of proper meeting skills and other group communication issues and techniques including decision making and problem solving.
  4. The student will demonstrate an understanding and ability in planning and organizing student council and school activities.
  5. The student will demonstrate an understanding and ability in using marketing and public relations skills in the planning of their activities.
  6. The student will demonstrate an understanding of diversity, belonging, and issues awareness and be able to apply these concepts to themselves and their to the school.
  7. The student will demonstrate and understanding and ability in planning and participating in activities that promote school spirit and positive sportsmanship.
  8. The student will demonstrate the ability to plan and participate in school and community service projects.

Materials/Supplies Needed

Students will need a 1” three ring binder and 8 subject dividers.  “Everyday Leadership” texts will be provided by the school.
