Semester Weighting 20% Work Log, Self Evaluation, Attendance 20% Committee or Peer Evaluations 20% Activity Participation 20% Community and School Service 20% Blogging, Assignments, Participation Work Log, Self Evaluation, Attendance Students will participate in group discussions and committee meeting planning sessions. They will complete a self evaluation form at the end of each quarter detailing their participation and assessment of their role in accomplishing the tasks set up by their committee and student council. Every student will start off each quarter with 100 participation points. For every unexcused absence, 10 points will be deducted. For every unexcused tardy, coming to class unprepared, or not participating in a Student Council sponsored spirit day without a valid excuse, 5 points will be deducted. Student council members are expected to be role models for other students. Willful disregard for school rules and policies will also result in 5 point deductions. Committee or Peer Evaluations Students will be evaluated by Student Body President, Committee Chair and peers in the class at the end of a project. Each evaluation will be out of 100 points. Activity Participation Students will be required to participate in activities planned and sponsored by the Student Council. This will quite probably involve some time outside of the normal school day. Students should plan to be assigned to set up, maintain or clean up an activity. It is expected that students will be involved in each duty listed at least once per semester. Community and School Service As with Activity Participation, students will be assigned duties in conjunction will Student Council sponsored service projects. Students will be given points based on service hours logged: 6 hours for 75 points, 8 hours for 85 points and 10 hours for 100 points. Blogging, Assignments, Participation Students will be asked to participate in communicating aspect of the Leadership Class. This will involve blogging information on activities, thought provoking questions, commenting on other blog entries and any potential wiki pages that may arise from activity planning. Classroom assignments from the text and other handouts will be graded on an individual basis. Students are expected to participate in small and full group discussions. |
