Grading for the Cadet Band will be based the following:
1) Assessments
for State Music Standards, points will vary depending upon the exercise
- requirements: Terminology, Composition, Improvisation,
Interpretation
2) Writing
Assignments, 10-150 pts each
- approximately one per week; personal journal, letters, critiques, blogs, etc
- music terminology quizzes and notation exercises
- worksheets associated with videos viewed in class
3) Practice
Cards, 100 pts
- based on the time practiced and related to
the chart below
4) Performance(s), 200 pts each
- reasons for not receiving points
- absence or behavior not conducive to proper
performance etiquette
- restoration of lost points
- behavior:
- first offense: onetime report, written
properly, pertaining to concert etiquette
- second (and future) offense: points will
not be restored
- absence:
- an excused absence as per Crowley County
Schools guidelines, and
- note explaining reason of absence, plus
- five
page report, written in proper style, on any subject(s) musical
