Philosophy Offerings Grading Policy Lettering Policy Guidelines for Behavior

GRADING

Grading for the instrumental music program will be based on six parts:

          1) Writing Assignments                                                                          10 pts per day

              approximately one per week; guided entries into personal journal

          2) Performance(s)                                                                                  200 pts each

              reasons for not receiving points

                   absence

                   behavior not conducive to proper performance etiquette

              to restore lost points

                   behavior: one time report, written in proper style, pertaining to concert etiquette

                                 second offense:  points will not be restored

                   absence:  a) an excused absence (as per Crowley County Schools guidelines), and

                                 b) note explaining reason of absence, plus

                                 c) five page report, written in proper style, on any subject(s) musical

          3) Performance Test                                                                               100 pts each

              (Chair placement and other performance tests will be assigned as necessary)

          4)  Music Terminology Quizzes                                                               10 pts each

          5) Assessments                                                                                      100 pts

              requirements

                   Terminology, Composition, Improvisation, Interpretation

          6) Final Exam                                                                                          100 pts

              written and/or performance - 20% of term grade

                   based on music performed during the term as well as terminology quizzes
