It is
the goal that every student in the program develops a lifelong
appreciation for the value of music in his or her life. Each and every
student should strive to become the most proficient musician and
performer that they are personally capable of. Countless studies are
confirming daily what musicians have known for may years, music, and
other related fine arts, not only create knowledge in their specified
area but also add to the intelligence of the individual overall. None
more than an instrumental performing group. You are not only increasing
your musicianship but you are also gaining in the intellect required
for math, science and humanities. Most graduates of the instrumental
music program will enjoy music as listeners much more often than as
performers, however, the opportunities for performing will increase
with the level of expertise the student develops. The program will
strive to promote the widest range of musical taste by exposing
students to as many different musical styles and ideas as possible.
Through listening, rehearsal and performance situations the hope is to
instill a strong sense of self-discipline, self-motivation and the
inner drive for excellence with every aspect in the student's life.
Hopefully, from the opportunities given them, students can develop the
self-confidence to know there is nothing they cannot achieve, no
obstacle they cannot overcome, so long as they are willing to utilize
all their talents and work hard and long enough. Most of all, they
should be able to view music as an experience that had a positive
effect on their lives for years to come.
