Grading for the class guitar program will be based on five parts plus optional final exam:

1) Skill Proficiencies                                               Points vary per assignment

Technical skills will be tested individually.  In order to advance to the next section proficiencies must be mastered.  Students will retake proficiency until it has been mastered.  Mastery of a skill will be a minimum of 80%.  Skill proficiencies will be announced a minimum of 2 days in advance.

2) Recitals                                                                 Points vary per assignment

Classroom performances testing a collection of skill proficiencies.  Performance of recitals is mandatory.  In some cases recital performances will be in ensemble form and the group will receive a collective grade.

3)  Video Worksheets                                                                                                    Points vary per assignment

On occasion students will watch a video presentation on music history or a significant aspect of music.  These will be accompanied by a worksheet students will fill out as they watch.

4) Assessments                                                      Points vary per assignment

These will be used to determine understanding of musical topics covered in class.

5) Final Exam                                                                                                100 pts

                                    written and/or performance - 20% of term grade
