GRADING The students are evaluated in several areas: practice card, progress in the method book, individual performance from method book, and class participation or attitude. Please be absolutely sure about time you desire to excuse them from class or practicing. My feeling is that if they can come to school they can participate fully in band! Missing even one day could be hard to make up; however, a week or more could spell disaster. I may excuse and understand special cases but for the most part I expect that they will play everyday. Even though I may accept a student not playing or practicing it doesn’t mean that I will like it. Always check with your doctor, dentist or orthodontist as to any special considerations that we might need to know about. You will be notified on a quarterly basis the progress with which your child is making in the book, the amount of practice time reported to me and the number of times they have not participated during class.
