2009-10 Band Trip

Beginning Band

Your child will have an opportunity to begin study in instrumental music. This is an incredibly exciting time for them, something as new and different as their first day of school. An added change to the 2009-2010 school year will be exclusively offering instrumental music to 5th grade students.

It has been proven in studies that those who participate in instrumental music programs are more successful in school, activities and life in general. This is directly related to positive qualities of life that music teaches including aesthetics, self-discipline, self-confidence, self-motivation, etc.

The primary focus of the Beginning Band is to complete as much of the Essential Elements 2000 program as possible by the end of the school year.

Music is a primary condition of the human experience. In the history of man on earth many civilizations have been identified that could not read, write or calculate. None have been discovered that did not make music. It is also interesting to note that all the species on earth only humans purposefully engage in making music. There are so many feelings in our heart and images in our mind that can only be accessed through creating, performing and listening to great music. When those thoughts and feelings are activated and engaged we can experience the profound impact of music making as an endless source of inspirational energy that flows continually through out lives; elevating, expanding, and deepening our spirits.

Budgeting time between school, clubs/activities and play is a life skill and self‑discipline activity that will benefit any young person. Moreover, studies show that students who study instrumental music enhance other aspects of their intelligence and education. Standards are high but Mr. Beaber works to make them fair each year.
