Borrower Benefits - the multiple options offered by loan lenders - these can range from payment of the origination fee to a discount on interest for borrowers who utilize automatic draft - be sure to research the borrower benefits of each lender to determine which bank is best for you
Cost of Attendance (COA) - a calculation determined by the financial aid office to help determine a student's financial need - program,tuition, fees, transportation, child care, uniforms, books, and housing are all factored into this equation to accurately encompass the needs of our students
Dependent - a student that does not meet the requirements for Independent status (see "independent")
Full-Time - 12 credit hours or more - students must be enrolled full-time to receive their maximum awarded amount of Pell Grant money (amount is pro-rated based on status for anything below 12 hours)
Half-Time - 6-8 credit hours - students must be enrolled at least half-time to be eligible for Stafford Loan funds
Independent - if the student can answer "yes" to any of the following questions, they are considered "independent" for financial aid reasons:
- Born before 1-1-1985?
- Working on a Master's/Doctorate Program? (answer is "no" for all CCHS students)
- Is Student Married?
- Have Children You Support?
- Dependents Other Than Children/Spouse?
- Orphan or Ward of the Court?
- On Active Duty in U.S. Armed Forces?
- Veteran of U.S. Armed Forces?
Three-Quarters-Time - 9 - 11 credit hours
