Pell Grants are what comes to mind for most student's when they think of financial aid.
Pell Grants are based on financial need and do not have to be paid back, once at least 60% of the student's semester is completed. The amount of the award is based on family contribution (EFC), cost of attendance, and a payment schedule issued by the U.S. Department of Education. A lender is not necessary to receive this type of aid.
Students interested in Pell Grants must complete a FAFSA so that need can be determined.
