2nd Graders created their own colored construction paper collage in the style of the artist Henri Matisse. Students first learned about 2 categories of shapes, geometric and irregular (which are both in the artwork above). Students chose 3 colors to create their geometric and irregular shapes. Then they drew, cut, arranged, and glued their shapes to white paper to create a colorful collage.
