2009 Pool, Beach and Lake Rules

Accessible Hours:               5:00am - 10pm Daily

Pool Lifeguard Hours:        Monday - Friday 11:00am - 6:00pm

                                                Saturday - 11:00am - 9:00 pm
                                                Sunday 1:00pm - 6:00pm

Pool, Beach and Lake Rules

1.      All gates must remain locked at all times. Gates will be inoperable after 10pm for both entering and exiting the fenced area.  You must exit the gate prior to 10pm or you will be locked in.  Security cameras are in operation 24 hours/day.  No jumping of gates/fences will be tolerated.

2.      Swimming in the pool and lakes is at your own risk at all times – there is no lifeguard on duty at the beach or for either of the lakes, and lifeguard hours for the pool are as posted, but are subject to change with inclement weather, scheduling conflicts, etc.

3.      Swimming alone is strictly prohibited!

4.      The pool, beach and lakes are for the use of current members in good standing only. Guests are permitted only if accompanied by a member in good standing.  Guests must pay $3 per day to use the pool, beach or lakes. This is a year around rule and members are responsible for making sure their guests’ fees are paid. Members under the age of 21 are limited to 4 guests. Members must accompany their guests at all times.

5.      Residents of Cardinal Lake must purchase their own membership – they cannot be the guest of another member. This includes anyone whose household is eligible for Permanent or Voluntary Membership in the CLCA.

6.      For the safety of our members and guests, an adult at least 18 years of age must accompany children 12 years of age and under.

7.      Profanity, fighting, spitting and any other inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated at the pool, beach and lake. Smoking is not permitted within the fenced pool area. Members and guests who are not observing these rules will be asked to leave the premises. The police will be summoned if deemed necessary.

8.      Individuals will not be allowed into the pool area if they have open sores, rashes, or are under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

9.      Running on the pool deck and horseplay of any kind will not be tolerated in the pool area.

10.  Diving is permitted only in the designated deep end of the pool. Inward or reverse dives are not permitted. Jumping or diving from the lifeguard chair is not permitted.

11.  Any person who uses a flotation device of any kind must be accompanied by an adult at least 18 years of age and must stay in the shallow end of the pool.

12.  No skateboards, bikes, roller blades, or scooters are allowed in the pool area or within any of the fenced areas.

13.  No animals are allowed in the pool or on the pool deck (with the exception of service dogs). Dogs are allowed on the beach, playground, and other fenced areas but must be on a leash, if not in the lake, and under control at all times. Dog owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets immediately.

14.  Pool equipment and chemicals are to be handled by pool personnel only.

15.  During adult swim (approximately 10 minutes each hour), everyone (regardless of age) must exit the pool and await the lifeguard's call of "pool clear.”  Members and guests 18 and older may re-enter the pool and swim during the lifeguard break, but all members and guests under the age of 18 must remain out of the pool until the lifeguard resumes duty. 

16.  Swimmers must wear bathing suits. Cut-offs, gym shorts, sports bras, underwear, or leotards cannot be substituted for a proper, clean bathing suit.

17.  Children who are not potty trained must wear a swim diaper which must be covered by a plastic diaper cover. All children must wear bathing suits.

18.  Glass containers of any kind are strictly prohibited within the fenced in area of the pool. Glass containers are permitted when used by responsible adults in the picnic area.  Glass bottles/containers must be removed from the picnic area when the member leaves.  Glass containers are not to be placed in any receptacles on CLCA property.           

19.  Members and their guests are responsible for cleaning up after themselves. Please notify the lifeguard of any hazardous situations if a lifeguard is on duty – otherwise, contact the VP of Pools or one of the other board members immediately (Board Member contact information is posted).

20.  Members and their guests are responsible for their own valuables.

21.  Members and their guests must treat each other and the lifeguards with courtesy and respect. Our members have every right and the responsibility to monitor the CLCA premises, and the right to ask if you are a member of the CLCA if they do not know you.

22.    Inflatable “blobs” are not allowed on either of the lakes.

 

ADDITIONAL RULES SPECIFIC TO BOTH CARDINAL AND CANARY LAKES

1. Only members and their guests are allowed to use the lakes. $3.00 guest fee applies year around for guest usage of the lakes and beach.
2. Non-members MUST be accompanied by a member while fishing. In some cases, the member's boat may be too small, and in that case, the non-member may be in another boat. However, if the member leaves the lake, so must the non-member.
3. No organized fishing events held on either lake other than those sanctioned by the Cardinal Lake Board of Directors.
4. No gas motors are allowed to be used on either Cardinal or Canary Lake other than projects approved by the Cardinal Lake Board of Directors. Foster Lake & Pond Management's Shan O'Gorman is approved to use a gas motor as needed for lakes maintenance.
5. Only members of the Cardinal Lake Civic Association (Permanent or Voluntary) may have a dock on the lake. The dock can extend no more than twenty feet from the bank and may not have a fixed roof of any type over the water.
6. We ask that all boaters abide by the Georgia Boating and Safety Rules. Children should have some type of floatation device when boating. The children do not have to wear it if they are good swimmers; just carry one in the boat.
7. Vehicles are not allowed on Canary Lake Dam unless approved by the Cardinal Lake Board of Directors.
8. Please take your trash home with you.
9. Do not block the boat ramp on Cardinal Lake or the entrance to Canary Lake with vehicles.
10. Do not stand on the drainpipes on the Canary Lake dam area.
11. No fishing inside the drain valve fenced area on Cardinal Lake.
12. Please remove any crappie, catfish or carp caught from either lake.
13. Release all Grass Carp! See pictures below that will show you the difference between the Grass Carp and the Common Carp.  The Grass Carp were specifically stocked into both of our lakes to take care of the weed problems so we want to make sure they stay in the lakes.
