The Undergraduate Council of Mechanical Engineering (UCME) is a student-run committee dedicated to improving the undergraduate Mechanical Engineering program at Caltech. Members of the committee participate in honest and open-minded discussions with faculty representatives, and it is through this venue that improvement is foreseen. The scope of UCME is broad - its goals include (but are not limited to) bridging the gap between students and faculty by arranging opportunities for interaction (such as socials and contests or competitions), implementing potential improvements to the curriculum/course offerings, and bettering student life overall. Occasionally, the committee will also conduct surveys to obtain an understanding of current standings.
