Steve's Blog April to December 2016

23rd December 2016

Well I was a bit out on making a Christmas release.

But I am still making a rather green Class 66 external.

It's very much a Work In Progress....

Can I wish you all a Happy Christmas and a happy new year!

14th December 2016

I am still having trouble making the GC HST cab in to a Cross Country one so at the moment I am doing this.

Very much a WIP, although what's that different cab front doing there, may be it's from a WIP from over a year ago?

Yes it is and here's a screenshot of it, or GBRf 66731 in the current GBRf livery.

I've noticed that I have never released a Class 66 Railtour so something for Xmas here?

17th November 2016

Well I've still not done the animation of the brake and throttle nobs on the cab view, because I moved on to this.

Yes, that's what I've been doing since the last post.

A bit daft really, I am not sure that I can make the GC cab into a Arriva Cross Country one!

As you may have guessed I've been avoiding knobs.......

Err, in the cab view.

3rd October 2016

Today it's back to the Grand Central MTU HST cab.

I've done some more tweaks the cab view and animated the clock, DRA and all the gauges.

2nd October 2016

The Hanson 59/1 is now released as a light engine and as three different length JNA wagon trains.

Note that these are very big!

Especially the 42 wagon version....

24th September 2016

Well the Hanson 59/1 hauling JHA hoppers is not far from release.

Note it's a bit long and the wagons have external rather than object features about them like 3D wheels.

So you need a top end computer to run it!

That may not be the end of the train in the mist........

15th September 2016

There's been a lot more work on the JHA wagons, but I've moved back to the 59/1.

The body and roof are now finished on the 59/1 so I've moved on to altering the underframe to 59/1 spec from the 59/2 one I first made.

Actually once I've finished the 59/1 I have also made a 59/0!

Although not in a 59/0 livery....

Here's a screenshot or two of the differences between a left hand side of a 59/0 or 59/1 and a 59/2.

I am still working on the other side.

5th September 2016

Still working on the JHA wagon.

I've also spent a bit of time cleaning up the MTU cab, next its remove the brake and power knobs and make a start at animating it

Note that the above screenshot is actually two stuck together.

28th August 2016

More work on the JHA wagon.

21st August 2016

Work continues on the JHA wagon for the Mendip Rail/Hanson Class 59/1.

I've also spent a few hours on a new photo real refurbished HST cab.

This one is from photo's sent to me last week by Richard Boddy.

It's of a Grand Central HST cab.

I of course normally do Network West Midlands related trains but I will try to animate this one and release it without an external if I can.

But I then hope I can alter it as it's got a different layout to a Cross Country MTU HST for example, you might see on NWM.

18th August 2016

Now released a Network Rail - Windhoff MPV.

A photo real cab from photo's by Richard Boddy.

It can be found on the DMU Downloads page.

18th July 2016

Here's a WIP I am now working on.

A Hanson liveried, Mendip Rail Class 59/1 with some JHA's behind it.

I am also working on a MTU HST.

No Richard it's not a GWR/FGW one!

14th July 2016

Now released, a DBS Class 59 top and tail railtour.

26th June 2016

The DBS 59204 loaded ballast train is now released.

30th April 2016 (a bit later)

The Class 59 externals I've also finished.

So first off, is DBS 59204 on a loaded ballast train or it would be if I had finished configuring the train!

The leading loco 59204.

Then you have two 66's on the back.

The 66's and the wagon's are all my route object versions, so not quite as big as you might think from a computer up to running this point of view.

Basically here I am pointing out that you need two 66's to pull what a 59 can!

So this train might get even longer...

It's only 31 wagons long at the moment.

30th April 2016

Sorry about the lack of posts.

I finally finished the 'thing' which is a fuel lift pump, thanks to Martin Corbett for letting me know.

So there's also a lot more work in the last month or so.

In fact it's now released.

24th April 2016

Work on the 'thing' continues, I've not had any e-mails about it so I think it's a oil pump of some sort.

Either way it's got some plumbing to be added.

14th April 2016

I've been working on this.

I don't have a clue what it is, if you know please e-mail me!

At the moment it's called the thing, here's a link to a Brian Daniels photo of it. https://www.flickr.com/photos/brianews/6163473561/in/album-72157627707614082/

6th April 2016

The bogies are now finished, first today the bogie steps then I added the straps that seems to be there to stop the rotational damper sticking outside of the loading gauge if the pin attaching it to the body mounting fails.

Just a bit 'Heath Robinson' if you ask me!

5th April 2016

All that conduit is now basically black so it's hard to see, since the last post I've been working on the bits to do with the AWS mounted on the inside of the leading bogie.

Then I moved on to the bogie steps, normally I would call them the cab steps but in the case of a HST they also are the same steps to the van on the other bogie.

Although this week I made another wagon object.

It might not be in that release of NWM that I thought might happen about the New Year and what may be out for the summer or possibly the autumn.....
