Steve's Blog October to December 2014

31st December 2014

Well another year over and I've done a bit better on the Class 66 than I thought a year ago, but failed on the Mk2, Mk3 and HST!

I did get slowed down by all the object versions of the 47,56,57 and 66's I've made for NWM (new version coming soon!), this first came about to replace a pram owners versions of the 47 so we might not have to change his nappy.

Although the pram owner seems to have thrown his rattle out of the pram anyway!

At the moment I will not go past work on the Mk2 coaches, because I am not sure myself!

But you can be sure there will be more......

Happy New Year!

22nd December 2014

Three of the GBRf Class 66's have been revised and released.

Two had the 2D cabview in the wrong place and the 66705 Barrier train had one power notch missing!

Thanks to Tony Haylor for pointing the errors out.

19th December 2014

As I've already posted on Bve Worldwide I am back working on the Mk2 coaches, although thanks to work I've not been able to spend much time on them.

Currently it's still the Mk2a TSO that I am working on although the d and e versions might be more interesting, as they are of course more modern looking air conditioned coaches.

10th December 2014

All the Class 66's have been rereleased, have the new sound config by Tony Haylor of TSC/TSS (plus a bit by me) and a revised cabview.

Remove the old versions or rename them before you download as the file names are the same.

New is that GBRf 66705 is now on a barrier train and replaced by 66701 on the loaded JXA train.

I've also corrected a few errors that sneaked in here and there but as I did the 21 released as a batch I may have replaced the odd one with another!

2nd December 2014

The GBRf with IIA wagons is now released and a 66302 Fastline light engine.

Or though this GBRf version is correct in having blank and Fastline wagons in the consist sorry there's no GBRf liveried ones.

They have detail differences I don't have the photo's of to make them.

1st December 2014

The Fastline 66303 and IIA bogie coal wagon train is now released on the 66 download page, but not shown on the loco download page.

This release has a redrawn cab to remove the 'lean' on the cab side window and a new sound config by Tony Haylor of Trainsimstuff/TSC and a bit by me.

This revised cab and sound config will be added to all the previous releases.

It's 21 wagons long so in the screenshot below of it is in Brookfield yard but does not actually fit the road it's on!

A GBRf version with the IIA wagons will follow tomorrow.

30th November 2014

This week I've spent my time making both a new Class 66 external and some new wagons for it to pull.

So you now have a Fastline livery version.

Plus a new wagon, a Fastline IIA.

Hopefully I will release it tomorrow, this is a very long one of 21 wagons.

A GBRf version will also appear.

20th November 2014

I finished the 66 objects so it's back to the Class 87 Virgin one.

Which I've just finished today.

It may or not be in the next release NWM, which should be around Christmas.

Or Easter........ or at 14:00 hours GMT on Monday 24th of November 2014.

Ok, I made the last line up..........

But I am sure you will see a revised NWM soon!

13th November 2014

I managed to finish the EWS Class 66 objects yesterday, so today I made some GBRf ones.

All have been sent off to Tony Haylor of TSC/TSS to include in the next release of the Network West Midlands route.

This next release of NWM will also include the odd new wagon object I've made and the odd 47, 56 and 57 route object as well!

12th November 2014

The Freightliner Class 66 route objects I have now finished, so I moved on to EWS versions.

Here's the first one.

11th November 2014

Work continues on the Class 66 route objects, there's just some more simple sandboxs over the fuel tanks to add and the sand pipes to them.

The underframe for example is now six very small textures, rather than the hundreds you will find in the external version!

Everything has been either reduced in size and or simplified.

9th November 2014

So what am I working on now?

Class 66 objects for TSS/TSC, here's the first version.

EWS to follow.

You may have noticed that I am currently working on the bogies!

6th November 2014

The barrier coaches have now been released in two forms, Colas Class 47 and 56 hauled.

These coaches are passed to run at 100 mph, as they are fitted with BR B4 bogies from Mk2d onwards coaches.

Although the Colas 47 is only passed to do 95 mph and the 56 only 80 mph.

That's the maximum speeds allowed, it's always the passed speed of the slowest vehicle in a train that is the permitted speed the train can do.

So no speeding!

4th November 2014

I've actually been working on this one for the last week.

Well I quite liked the look of these EMU barrier coaches, although I was a day in to working on this one when I realised it was a bit more of a major project than I thought it was!

All those cables, connectors and air pipes...

I plan to release this one with a GBRf 66, a Colas 56, a Colas 47 and a top and tail.

Or config wise a very fast, fast, slightly not so fast and a slower one!

Well it is very hard to configure these things!

2nd November 2014

I've been having as look at another GBRf livery for the 66.

This ones slightly different to what I normally do, it's a reskin with photo's I took rather than what my contributors have let me use!

29th October 2014

All the EWS and Freightliner Class 66's have now been released and a new EWS car carrier version has been released.

Also I've now released some GBRf ones!

21st October 2014

The EWS car carrier has had the wagons bodies reconfigured and will be released shortly.

Of the GBRF versions that I've been working on, 66702 is completed as a light engine and I've also made two more in this version of the GBRf livery.

I've also gone back to the JXA box wagon I first started a year and a half ago!

There will be two versions of this wagon, the one shown and the later build ones that have the box going back to the bufferbeams.

One of the GBRf class 66's is 705 or the one with the huge Union flag on the side of it..

Paul Warburton

Thanks to Paul Warburton for permission to use his photo of the flag and his one of the nameplate.

The GBRf and the First branding I made in paint.net.

As is everything I do.

14th October 2014

I've still not finished the EWS car carrier 66, today I could not resist starting on a GBRf reskin.

12th October 2014

Today, I've been working on another load for a EWS Class 66.

Or a version with a rake of WIA car carriers behind it, these versions of the WIA wagons are not the same as found behind the Class 47 release.

I've made the body a bit taller, at the time I first made them I based the body size on photo's of the wagons only.

So I got the proportions a bit wrong as I did not refer to how they interacted with a loco....

A question some of you might have is where is the US buckeye coupling on these 66's?

Well quite a few EWS 66's did not have them fitted at first and 66040 was still running around without them in 2003.

Also I still don't have the photo's to make a good model of them.

66001 and 002 have holes in the bufferbeam where a test buckeye was fitted but have never been fitted with them in the UK, unlike the rest of the EWS loco's.

10th October 2014

Four EWS Class 66's are now released.

Two light engines, a MGR coal train and a HTA wagon one.

I've also tweaked the Freightliner externals thanks to noticing the errors as I made the EWS version!

All have new performance configs and a sound remix by Tony Haylor of TSS/TSC and the cabs have been altered so the wiper parks to the side of the windscreen and not above it.

They are all on the Class 66 download page.

9th October 2014

Well I was not too happy with the textures on the body and roof interacted with each other, so today I retextured the cab roofs to match the main roof.

Also I did the same to the main body sides and the cabs.

8th October 2014

Since releasing the Freightliner Class 66's I have now been working on EWS/DBS versions.

Here's one of the two I will release shortly, 66002 on HTA coal wagons.
