Steve's Blog July to September 2015

29th September 2015

So back to the power car external and I've started adding textures.

The Cooler group side grills are what I've just finished and are separate 3D slats.

The bogie sides look a bit odd at the moment as one half of a photo of a HST bogie has been used to make the other half.

23rd September 2015

As you may have noticed I am doing a Virgin Cross Country High Speed Train.

I then remembered a problem with that the TSC/TSS cab/train on BVETMD has a Great Western cab as its fitted with Automatic Train Protection related details like the speedometer and the buttons below it.

So today I redrew the cab to remove the ATP features and I also made it slightly more wider so I could reconfigure it to show more of the drivers desk.

Note that the cab is darker thanks to the light settings in NWM.

21st September 2015

More work on the Class 59.

Or maybe not, so what is it?

Getting the nose/cab front looking right might be fun on this one!

20th September 2015

Yes a miracle has happened, I am back working on the Class 59!

A bit more traction motor cable added to the right hand side today.

19th September 2015

The Direct Rail Services Nuclear Flask Wagon train is now available to download.

17th September 2015

The flask wagon is now finished, so let's put it in a train.

Still a WIP, I need to add couplings and pipework between them all.

Class 57 train engine, Class 47 'inside'.

16th September 2015

A bit more today.

Also for a change I thought I would show you the wagon from the other side!

15th September 2015

Some more work on the wagon.

14th September 2015

Still at it with the flask wagon, hopefully it will be finished this week!

Then I must get back to the Class 59....

At the moment the project after that may be something else to haul the Mk3 coaches.

I also thought I would show you a cabview/train I made in the New Year or a Windhoff - Network Rail MPV.

It's actually nearly finished configuration and animation wise but I am not having much luck with making the engine sounds for it so it's been put to one side for the last six months until I can.

So if you just happen to be passing one.....!

A high res (2048 x 2048) photo real cab, made from four photo's by Richard Boddy.

9th September 2015 (just a bit later)

Work continues on the flask wagon.

As ever I thought this would be a simple project, although I research what I am making I have this bad habit of forgetting to work out how long it might take to make!

In light of the odd post on an odd forum, I feel I must point out that this wagon like all my work is a totally awful example of coding train objects for Open Bve. :)

But I make externals.

They don't.

9th September 2015

Just released is a revised version of the Class 175 DMU I made in 2009 which also now includes the Celtic Trainsim object view.

I've reconfigured the train slightly with better brakes and not so loud horns.

Why when, there's what appears to be my latest version on CTS?

Well there's some quite simply odd reconfiguring of it, sounds missing, animations not working for example and there's no mention of these alterations so they appear to be my work!

No alterations have been made to the object.

Thanks to Graham Mace for releasing the object as free to use if not altered in any way...

7th September 2015

More work on the flask wagon, this time the other end of the wagon.

I must say that these wagons look quite simple at first glance and indeed the wagon it's self is.

But what's associated with flask box isn't!

3rd September 2015

Work continues on the flask wagon.

I forgot in my last post that I put the 57 behind a Railtour!

30th August 2015

This week thanks to permission from Dave Skipsey to use his photo's, I am working on a FNA wagon for the DRS Class 47 and 57 light engines released some time ago.

Better known as a nuclear flask wagon.

23rd August 2015

The last week or so has been back to the Class 59.

Although for the first couple of days I started back dating the coaches.

15th August 2015

Now released is Stratford 47 Group 47580, the Mk1 Pullman coaches and the early Mk2 coaches in an 11 coach Railtour.

It's in two releases 47580 only and 47580 and a new version of West coast 47854 on the rear.

Shown on the actual download page only at the moment.

9th August 2015

There's a problem with the Pullmans.

If they are in a Railtour were does the food come from?

Not from the Bar car.

So I started on this.

8th August 2015

So yet again since I last posted back to the Class 59 and it's pipework?

Well no, I made these instead to put behind 47580 or the one with the huge Union Jack on the side it.

It will also be the first release of the early Mk2's.

Mk1 Pullman Parlour Second 'Amethyst'

Parlour First 'Emerald'

Bar car 'The Hadrian Bar', this ones a work in progress.

29th July 2015

The Class 70 object is now finished.

I made four different numbered loco's that have the head and/or tail lights at different ends and rotated two of them so they are not the same way around.

That actually means there's 16 different versions of it!

28th July 2015

The bogies now finished, sandboxs under the cab, plus the deflector that some people would call a snowplough.

I've changed the size on the bufferheads and resized the buffers.

There's some other things I've added, but on the underframe it looks all too bright at the moment.

But it does mean I can see what I am doing better until I darken it a bit.

26th July 2015

The Class 70 roof is now finished and now it's work on the bogies.

Then add the sandboxs under the cab etc.

24th July 2015

The roof config has been finished, now a texture (or decoration) thing as I add the details.

This time here's a couple of shots of the right hand side, which I had to make from the other side for the bonnet sides.

That's a lot of sides.....

23rd July 2015

I've just rereleased the Virgin West Coast Class 57/3 Mk3 DVT and Class 87 'drag'.

I left the head and tail lights of the No2 end of the 57!

Yet again if you happen to notice a glaring error like that please e-mail me.

I would like to know.......

22nd July 2015

So what have I been doing for the last week?

Well not the Class 59, I jumped forward 11 and have been doing this.

A Freightliner Class 70, it's actually a route object for the Network West Midlands route.

As is the 66 behind it!

At the moment a Class 70 train is not planned.

10th July 2015

Now added the air pipe work above the fuel tank and air tanks.

Left to do on this side of the loco all the pipe work and fittings on the air tanks and some cables in the underframe side.

All the pipes are currently lighter that they will be so that I can see what I am doing a bit better!

8th July 2015

The last few days there's been a bit more 'Plumbing' to the Class 59 and then I started on the Fire System.

Then I got a bit distracted and made the Stratford 47 Groups 47580!

I was standing to attention and saluting as I made this one :)

This one will wait for me to put a train behind it before it's released.

Last month I had a look at doing the First Great Western 'Night Riviera' Sleeper.

So I put some new textures on one of the Virgin WC Mk3's.

The sleeper might happen, but not at the moment.

5th July 2015

'Plumbing' work on the left hand side at least, continues.

4th July 2015

So back to the Class 59 today and it's 'plumbing'.

3rd July 2015

The last few days I've been replacing the SSA scrap wagon route object I made quite a few years ago, in fact I think it was the first one I tried to do.

Here's the old wagon.

Here's the new version.
