Featured Filmmaker Charles Sturridge

For the 10th Annual Bridge Film Festival it is an honor to announce that Charles Sturridge will be this year's Featured Filmmaker and Guest Speaker!  As Featured Filmmaker Mr. Sturridge will show selected scenes from his films and will speak about his career and take questions from the audience at this year's Festival.

Charles Sturridge’s films include: Runners (Goldcrest 1982) A Handful of Dust (1988) Where Angels Fear to Tread (1991) ‘Fairytale – A True Story’ (Paramount 1997) and ‘Lassie’ (Firstsight 2005). Television work includes the multi-award winning adaptation of Evelyn Waugh’s ‘Brideshead Revisited’ (Granada 1981), ‘A Foreign Field’  (BBC 1993) and ‘Gulliver’s Travels’ (NBC/C4 1996).  He wrote and directed ‘Longitude’ (A&E/C4 2000)  and ‘ Shackleton’ (A&E/C4 2002) both of which won British Academy Awards and most recently he directed three episodes of the Mirage/HBO/BBC series:’The No 1 Ladies Detective Agency’ (BBC 2009). His theatre work includes, Chekhov’s ‘The Seagull’ (Queens Theatre 1985) and Samuel Becketts ‘Endgame’ (Gate Theatre 2006). He is married to the actress Phoebe Nicholls and they have three children.
