ABOUT OUR SCHOOL Brookfield Academy’s mission is to provide students with the tools that they need, both academic and social, to succeed at the next level of their education. Students who graduate from Brookfield are prepared for the best middle schools and high schools, possessing the work habits and the confidence they need in order to do well. Brookfield employs Montessori methodology, a proven system which addresses each child’s individuality. Sequential steps in academic growth are carefully tested before moving ahead in any subject, allowing each student to progress at their own rate.
The Brookfield Academy Livonia Campus began in 2008 in a completely remodeled UAW Ford building. Brookfield Academy had discussed a fifth school for many years, but with support of the new owners of Brookfield Academy, Bright Horizons Family Solutions, the dream became reality. The Livonia campus has 7 classrooms and can accommodate 170 children. It is the first Brookfield Campus to offer a program for infants and toddlers. This year we serve children from 6 weeks to 6 years old. We hope to begin a Lower Elementary program in 2010-2011.
Although new, the Livonia campus provides the same curriculum as the other Brookfield campuses: a sound, early and individualized educational program for children. We believe that children are born with tremendous potential and we believe this potential is realized through the right kind of environment and experiences. The right kind helps them develop a sense of responsibility and independence. It develops good work habits. It develops a fascination with the world and a desire to discover its secrets. It develops a well-balanced integrated personality.
Brookfield strives to offer a broad, meaningful education that encompasses the mind, culture, emotions, social expertise and practical skills. Our student’s academic success is achieved through an individualized, non-graded academic curriculum. Instruction in reading, language arts, mathematics, science, Spanish language, geography, history and geometry is presented individually or in small groups.
PROGRAMS OFFERED Infant and Toddler programs offered five days per week with flexible hours between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Preprimary (Children’s House) classes are offered for two five-day programs.
