October News Letter
Wow! October is here already…I guess time flies when you’re having fun. Preprimary is moving right along, they are doing really well with steady beat, and are now learning about tempo and how music changes speed. They are doing an excellent job, they will continue with both of these concepts, while exploring terms like dynamics and melody. Kindergarten has started working on rhythmic icons and contouring. They are learning the difference between steady beat and rhythm. Lower and Upper Elementary are both doing recorders, and are doing a wonderful job. They seem to be very excited to bring their recorders home to practice for their parents…so get ready! Along with recorder each group has been discussing musical sections, and naming different sections of music. At their class level they have been creating their own section/texture maps. They will continue to do things like this throughout the year, as well as exploring making their own music on a program that I use called, Super Dooper Music Looper. Time is moving quickly, and because of that the kids have begun learning some of their song for the winter concert. We can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on.
