We are working on trying to identify the different kind of distributions sources you can find nowadays in Internet and see how we would be able to accommodate them in our data model. We have created a specific page for discussion about it. Check it out!.

We switched to Google App Engine

Google just released Appengine. A very cool service to create and deploy scalable web applications. Before we were using Amazon EC2 and java, now the server side is developed in Python using PyAMF. Thanks to Rebecca Shapley who provided us with some invitations to start playing with Appengine.

It's ready to view the first biodiversityAtlas Screenshot. We welcome any feedback or help about it!

http://code.google.com/p/biodiversityatlas/ will hold the web application source code.

Expected project makeup:
  • Java (Spring, Maven, Hibernate) service layer backed by PostGIS datastore
  • User Interface is Flex
  • Geoserver will serve as the OGC (WMS, WFS) compliant mapping server
