Worked with Noah to try and install Ubuntu on the donated laptop. The thing won't boot from the DVD drive and keeps spitting out a bad sector error message.
Also plugged in the two cpu-like boxes we got from Bob. One of them whirs but doesn't send signal through the VGA cable. The other boots up but then sits at the set-up screen as if there is no operating system? I'd like to burn Ubuntu onto a CD instead of DVD, so the drive can read it.
Yesterday (Monday) I attacked the broken Airport Express, but cut my hand 2 times so I had to stop.
As far as the trip, Ella asked if we could go to a sporting event while she we are in SF. I said "sure, as long as there is a game with tickets that cost a maximum of $10 and it's in a place close to CalTrain." 5 minutes later Ella found a Giants baseball game 2 the new AT&T stadium (1 block from CalTrain) with $10 bleachers!!! |
