From
the moment you arrive on campus (Sunday between 3-5 pm), you'll
recognize the energy that will be prevalent throughout the week!
You'll be greeted by an eager and enthusiastic staff. They will lead
you through the orientation and prepare you for the events of the
week.
Ministry Tracks
Students and adults will choose between three ministries upon arrival.
1) Children's - leading daycamps, BYB clubs, and working with local children's programs
2) Community - assisting in community outreaches, working with local
agencies and
ministries to spread the gospel (this is among our most
popular ministries!)
3) Construction - assisting in renovation of homes of those in need.
Students and adults will need to bring clothing appropriate for any of
the three programs. Your students will choose their first, second, and third choices, and we try to place them in their first or second choice. Although students choose their ministry track, we can't guarantee placement in their first choice. Flexibility and willingness is required!
Workgroups
Workgroups are
all led by one of our staff members. Workgroups will contain between 8
and 30 students. Construction groups are typically smaller, and
daycamp groups can be very large depending on the number of children
attending at any one location. Your students will be mixed with other
students and adults from across the country. This allows your students
to shed the pre-conceived stereotypes placed on them by their home
group. This, in turn, allows them the opportunity to step out of
their box of limitations and LEAD by serving! We are confident this
arrangement is safe and productive, however, if a youth leader wants to
request placement of a student with an adult from his/her church, that may be requested upon arrival.
Worship Services
These are designed with students in mind. They are well-planned,
Christ-Centered, and therefore Biblically based. The worship music
selected will point to the theme for the week, and each song is
carefully scrutinized to make sure it lines up with God's Word. In
addition, the messages will be applicable to all ages, yet true to the
Word
Food
We
work hard to provide GOOD food. We regularly hear that our food is
MUCH better than the people expected. Cost includes a hot, full breakfast, cold lunches,
and hot dinners. You can view a sample menu HERE.
Rooming
Typically, most rooms house between 18-20 per room. All rooms have 16-18 beds.
A few volunteers will sleep on cots or mats. Students need to provide sheets, blankets, and pillows. All
rooms have Heat/AC. Most groups can expect to share a room with another church.
