We are excited about launching the new www.bigcreekmissions.com. This website will help enhance our communications about what is going on.
Here are some good additions to the website:
1) A SEARCH tab - at the top of the page, just to the right of the header. If, for example, you need to know information about "dress code" - just type in those words, and it will show any documents or pages with "dress code" in them.
2) Subscribe to Changes - You can create a google account and subscribe to the changes on any of the pages contained at Big Creek Missions.com
3) Clearer navigation controls
4) Faster loading!

Greetings! Just a word to let you know that ALL the groups have arrived safely, and all the students are safely tucked in bed! We thank you in advance for praying for us this week. It's going to be an exciting experience, and we know God's going to bless the efforts of ALL the ten churches represented this week. This is our largest week of the summer, and we are confident of great things to come! We have churches all the way from TEXAS, FLORIDA, SOUTH CAROLINA, NORTH CAROLINA, PENNSYLVANIA, TENNESSEE, and MISSOURI! What an amazingly diverse group! We're excited about the partnerships this week.
Parents, please remember, no news is good news! If your student doesn't call home, please realize, cell phone coverage is "spotty" to say the least, so they may not be able to call out.

Yet again a wonderful day. Thank you for all your prayers today. After worship last night, we began to see a shift in the attitude of the students here at Big Creek. Last night, the message was focused on the "flaming arrows" that satan throws our way - namely, temptations. As Christians, we are often guilty of dumbing down the concept of "righteousness" and accepting mediocrity and sin as normal expectations for Christians. As we read God's word, it was clearly shown to us that the expectations are high - and we fall short. The students and adults were challenged with a message of living this NEW life in Christ according to HIS standards, not the worlds.
We at Big Creek don't want to play on the students' emotions - rather, we want to truly see a permanent life change. Tonight, as we studied God's word and discuss the helmet of salvation, we discovered that Christ himself is the one who protects our minds from the doubt, discouragement, and the delays that Satan constantly bombards us with. May we understand the power of Christ's salvation in our lives! As we understand the extent of that salvation, we will be forever changed. It won't be a temporary feeling, nor will it be an emotional mind game. It will be theTruth of Christ being made real in our lives.
Thanks for your prayers. A few things to pray for: Weather! We'd love another day of good weather! Pray for safety of our missionaries, and open hearts for those who might hear the gospel message tomorrow.

Once again this week, we are blessed with some tremendous groups. Today, our groups were able to start an additional 5 construction projects. In addition, our volunteers were able to reach out in 9 different locations throughout the community. Some groups were visiting nursing homes and senior centers, while others were leading daycamps in areas where children hang out. This week, for the first time, we are excited to partner with two ministries located in Hazard and Manchester. We'll be working wiht the homeless shelter in Hazard with some extensive cleanup, and also working with the Manchester community church as they renovate their dental clinic. It's exciting to see new doors opening as we continue to share the message of Hope in Christ here in Southeast Kentucky.
Continue to pray for us today. The weather's looking a little "iffy" - and that does affect our construction projects and our ability to lead daycamps. However, we will press on no matter what! Thank you for yoru love and support!

Just to let you know, all churches and students have arrived at Big Creek Missions safely! We've already begun preparing for the week. This week, we have churches representing several states, the farthest being from Delaware! Most of our volunteers this week are new to this ministry, and we are thankful they have chosen to serve with us in ministry.
Sunday, we will be spending most of the day planning and preparing for ministry on site. We'll be discussing evangelism techniques, preparing daycamps, sorting construction supplies, and spending time in prayer and worship. Pray for us - it's going to be a long, yet productive, day!
Pictures will be up as soon as possible!

A HUGE thank you goes out to all our churches from week four. This was an amazing week. The students were passionate and productive, and the adults were supportive and caring. Lives were touched. I truly believe that all of us can say that the we saw the huge transformation occur within our group during the week. Thank you for giving your all. Stand Firm!

Today was the second full day that the groups have had on site. The ministry sites ran very smoothly today and the students have warmed up more and more to the people on their worksites. Two people came to know Christ at the Horizon Center in Manchester, giving us great joy today. God is molding this group to be His hands and feet, and we are being reminded that we are not just to serve here in Kentucky but back at our home churches as well. Tonight in the worship service, the word was read powerfully as we saw Paul's explanation for God's will for our life. Many students and adults were convicted of the many ways that we fall short, but God's grace is great enough to cover all of our sin. We are learning this week about sanctification, about how God is pushing us to be more like himself in our daily lives.

Today, the groups went out for their first day on site. Community, Day Camp, and Construction groups made their way all over Leslie, Perry, and Clay counties. Today was the first day that some groups changed plans because of rain, with scattered thunderstorms throughout the entire day. The worship service tonight was powerful, as the word was read and we were all challenged to be unified in the Spirit, together as one in Christ. Kevin also spoke about the peace that comes to those who believe in the gospel, and God moved in the hearts of at least five people as they now have faith in Jesus Christ to cover all sin!!! It has truly been a day of rejoicing. The day ended with a lot of fun and laughter as we had our first nightlife of the week. Stay tuned in to hear about all God is doing here in Kentucky and in the lives of the students and adults.

We welcome a new crew of missionaries to Big Creek! Everyone arrived safely this afternoon. This bunch is an extremely energetic group, and we are sure they will be full of energy tomorrow! Tonight, we enjoyed worship together and were able to meet our new track groups. This week will be a challenge for us, as we are changing all of our daycamp locations to new sites. As we are obedient, we can be assured God will accomplish HIS purposes through us!
Thank you for your prayers and support! Tomorrow, we will spend the entire day preparing for ministry throughout the week. Until then, we're working to upload some pictures for you from the week of ministry.
Until Tomorrow. . .

Although we had a bit of a rough start heading out to sites this morning (somebody forgot to unlock the gate) today actually went pretty well. A couple of groups ran into some issues with what they were supposed to do on site (one group couldn't get ahold of school officials about a painting project), but for the most part things have gone really well. The biggest thing to remember here at Big Creek is that we are not about the projects, but about the people. As long as our focus is on reaching out to the people of this community, the projects don't really matter.
A big difference between this week and the other weeks we've had so far here is that this week's group as a whole is a lot younger. Whereas past groups have been evenly spread among the ages, this week most groups have a majority of middle-school aged students. Some could choose to look at this in a negative light by thinking these children wouldn't have much to offer in the ways of skills for completing projects or doing the work we're doing here at Big Creek. Once again, however, Big Creek is not about projects, it's about people. These younger students have been working hard, probably harder than they've ever worked before, and we should count it a blessing that they are starting out so young in missions. They have all been learning a lot this week and doing very well on their job sites. We just hope they will be encouraged to continue to serve like they have been here when they return home.
Tonight Kevin talked about unity in the body of Christ, using the illustration of the shield of faith Paul gives us in Ephesians 6. Kevin also read scripture from Ephesians 4 and 5. These scriptures discuss things that we as Christians need to remove from ourselves, and they also discuss how we should build each other up and stand together. Our prayer is that everyone here will take this lesson to heart and apply it to their lives.
Continue to pray for the entire group that is here for the third week. Pray that they will build each other up and be encouraged. Pray also for focus for each individual because unless their focus is on Christ, they can't share His love with others. Pray for one of our band members and construction track group leader Bradley Robinson. He is not feeling very well and is unable to help lead worship at this time. Pray that God would provide him with a strong recovery very soon! We will look forward to sharing more about what God is doing here at Big Creek the rest of this week! God bless!
Until Tomorrow,
-Big Creek Missions
