BHPS PTO January 2009

Meeting Minutes

Thursday, January 08, 2009; 6:35 -7:05 PM

I.      Call to order

PTO President Thayumanasamy Somasundaram called to order the regular meeting of the BHPS PTO at 6:35 PM on Thursday, January 08, 2009 in the Science Classroom in the Thomasville Road Campus. Prior to the PTO Meeting Gallop Karate members came and performed Self-defense demo. This was organized by former PTO Vice-President Beth Stys. Thanks to Beth and Brandon Stys, and members of Gallop Karate everyone had a good time and learned few techniques about self-defense.

II.      Members Present

PTO President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and Volunteer Coordinator as well about dozen parents, staff, and teachers were present.

III.      Approval of minutes from last meeting

December 2008 Meeting minutes that was posted in the PTO website and was approved. [http://sites.google.com/a/bettonhills.com/pto/Home ]

IV.      Fund Raiser Ideas

a)      Red Elephant Pizza

Treasurer Christine spoke about the upcoming Fund Raiser at Red Elephant Pizza shop on Thomasville Road. We will receive a portion of the proceeds from the pizza shop from the sale on Tuesday, January 13, 2009. The school will send information about the fund raiser.

b)      Skate Night

Vice President Carly Rosendahl discussed about the doing a fund raiser at Skate World on Cap Cir SE. We will get certain portion of the gate collection on Tuesday or Thursday night. The Skate World will give us a banner and flyers. We have selected Thursday, February 26, 2009 as BHPS Skate Night.

c)      Secretary Latasha Anthony discussed about Mother’ day vanilla cake fund raiser from Publix. She mentioned that we can order cake between Feb 27 and Mar 30, 2009. Publix Bakery people will come and help people decorate the cake during the week of Mothers Day (May 4-8, 2009). We can price the cake at $6.50 and Publix will charge us $5.00

 

V.      School Activities

a)      Soccer Match on Tuesday, January 13, 2009

b)      Leon County Spelling Bee, Tuesday, January 13, 2009. Leon HS

c)      Red Elephant Fund Raiser, Tuesday, January 13, 2009

d)      Open House toward the end of January (information will be sent out in the Friday folders)

e)      Science Fair/Chili Dinner/ School Choir, Friday, January 30, 2009

f)        We will get our tent for the School Choir. PTO Capital Expense Fund paid for the tent. The cost is upwards of $8500

 

VI.      Adjournment

We adjourned the meeting at 7:05 PM.
