My name is Scott Bergman and I have had the pleasure of teaching at Betton Hills Preparatory School for 12 years. I am married and have two children, both of which attend our school. I have a Bachelors of Music Education from Capital University Conservatory of Music in Columbus, Ohio.
PK3 thru 8th grade students receive music instruction twice a week. Basic procedures of Preparation, Presentation and Practice are implemented throughout the BHPS experience.
Each year we have every student at BHPS participate in an "Year End Show". These shows range from kid created skits to 30 minute mini productions. Often they will parallel what they are learning in their classrooms as part of our Core Knowledge Curriculum.
The 7th and 8th grade students put on a full production of either a play or a musical. This is quite a large event and a lot of effort and time is put into making these performances some of the best that any 7th or 8th grade students would be capable of. Students are involved in every aspect of the production. The students are stage managers, costumers, light board operators, sound board operators, set crew and strike crew. This event is quite exciting and many of the parents and families get involved and have the chance to work together.
