Accelerated Reader (AR)

UPDATE!
Dear Parents, I have started to implement Accelerated Reader in my classes. Starting October 21st, the start of the 2nd quarter, all students will have a goal to read in regard to AR. I will set a certain amount of points that hvae to be achieved by the end of the none weeks that will count as a double test grade/project grade in my class. As you know, tests/projects count as 40% of your childs over all grade in Language Arts. Please encourage your child to read and to take AR tests after reading a novel.

Dear parents!!
 
I wanted to share with you some great news about reading at Betton Hills! We have acquired a great reading tool called Accelerated Reader. Accelerated reader is an innovative tool that we are utilizing to encourage and improve student reading. Although it is not a new program, it is new to Betton Hills.
 
Here is how it works. Students are able to take a comprehension test on just about any book available to them and recieve instant feedback on their understanding of what they read. Keep in mind, that once they take a test they can NOT retake it. However, it is a great way to check their comprehension progress through out the year. This is a fairly new tool for Betton Hills, but I hope to implement it completely by December and require so many AR points to be earned by each student in the second semester.
