BELY (Beth Elohim Local Youth) is the senior youth group at Temple Beth Elohim of Wellesley, Massachusetts, open to everyone in grades 8-12.  BELY holds one or two events each month, including apple picking, theatre/improv shows, an annual Chanukah Carnival, cosmic bowling, local sports events, ski trips, shul-ins, ice skating and lounge hours.  BELY is an active group in the temple community and includes social, educational, social action and social justice-related components in its events.

BELY is a member of NFTY's Northeast Region, which is comprised of over 60 temple youth groups (TYGs) from Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, New York and Canada.  NFTY is the youth movement of the Union For Reform Judaism.  NFTY-Northeast holds regional events once a month, including conclavettes, shul-ins and dances, all of which are held at host congregations throughout the region.

 

Conclavettes are weekend long events hosted by NFTY-Northeast TYGs.  Spring Conclavette alternates yearly between Social Action Weekend and Creative Arts Weekend.  Conclavettes are an excellent way for BELY Members who want to "try out" NFTY for the first time.

 

Institutes are the ultimate NFTY-Northeast experience!  Spend five days with all of your NFTY friends learning, praying, and playing together.  The central element of an Institute is the theme.  The theme of the Institute is a relatively broad topic and is introduced to participants through a variety of creative programs that delve into specific aspects of the chosen topic.  Institutes are run by the NFTY-Northeast Executive Board with help from four Seniors (Overalls) and several Juniors (Prayer Coordinators).

 

BELY members in grades 9-12 are eligible to attend NFTY regional and national events.
